Different braid

I'm using Daiwa Saltiga boat braid on my surf rod and it casts awesome. Guy at the tackle shop recommended it. It's depth marked every foot and a different color every 3. This doesnt do much for the surfcaster but I like to think it may at least break up the line of site of the line in the water. What this braid is, unlike PPro is smooth. It's texture is smooth, unlike the ropelike bumpiness of ppro and it casts a mile. The fact that it says boat means nothing other than the fact that its colored. I think they make a Saltiga surf braid too, same stuff I think only different color/dye. The reason I got this stuff is cuz I have my tackle shop spool my reels (guy does a great job) and this was on the bulk roll. Give it a go if you are looking for something smoother than ppro. I'm using 40# and it seems much more resistant to wind knots, like they are not a problem.

This maybe worth a "look / see".
Biggest complaint with PP and some others is the "weed situation". I find weeds Super Glue themselves to the PP type line.
This being smooth, I assume it'll be much better? Probably quieter too?
How's the knots working out?
Suspect you're working it on a spin,,, I may try this on a conv.

I have heard of the line, but Fireline still works for me.

I have noticed that too, very frustrating. I think I have a few pp spooled reels with weeds wound up in them. I havn't had that with this stuff yet, they seem to come right off.

im hooked on fireline.......im thinking about trying suffix performance braid...maybe ill take a look at the saltiga...ide like to rig a few rods differently to find the perfect set up for how im fishing that day..plugs, eels, jigs, chunks...whatevers clever..

sounds promising. I currently use PP, and have had the weed problem as well. Have you fished it on rockie beaches yet?

I have fished it in rocky areas but have only had schoolies on the line, it held up well w/ no fraying that I could see. It seems PPRO frays much easier. I can't say what would happen tho if you hooked into a moby in the rocks.....hopefully I can soon

It does actually help if you are drifting from the surf and letting line spool out. The color change every yard gives you a great quick visual of how far your line is out...

If it is smooth, it prolly is worth looking into. But I swear by Fireline, so this stuff would have to be super impressive.

Personally wouldn't use pp to wrap a package. But thats just me, my braid is suffix, no problem with wind knots or weeds. Have used the suffix tritanium plus mono for couple of years and tried the braid. Not being a braid fisherman from experience with pp etc and was pleasantly surprized with the suffix....
