Conventional gives you far more "feel" for your plug. Get even the tiniest bit of grass on a hook and you know it.
It especially shines for throwing larger plugs, metal, and snag n drop rigs.
Where it takes a back seat to spinning is when there's a good breeze into your face, when you need to throw very small, light plugs like Redfins, or when you're going to be dunking it heavily - no such thing as a sealed, waterproof conventional.
