Default Portland or Block Island

I am looking to travel to the Northeast over the Sept 15th weekend. I was planning to go to Portland to fish but I have heard the majority of the fish will be gone by then. I could also go to Block Island. I plan to surf fish and take a light tackle charter as well.

Can anyone comment on the fishing in Maine in two weeks or Block Island?

there are still going to be fish in Portland, but if I were to lay bets, I'd hit the Block. Fish are starting to school up and the bait is very thick everywhere around here. The south coast beaches and the openings of the Breachways are starting get very lively, and the rips of Montauk and Block island will only continue to improve. Save some time and cash, hit Rhodie.
