12-27-06 Harbor Tackle Fishing Report, W. Ocean City, Md.
Harbor Tackle’s Fishing Report, December 27, 2006
The big blues are still here. Almost same fishing report just another week. Another red drum was caught at AI. It was 29” caught by an Ocean Pines gentleman. Lots of big blues in the surf, red hake, skates, dogfish, and a few short stripers with some legal stripers mixed in. Blue sizes are ranging from 30” to 36”. On Friday, Brian Jackson, had a great day. In about a 30 minute span, he hit 7 blues ranging in size from 30” to 36”. Also on Friday, Jiro Akiyama from Germantown, Md. caught a 34” blue from the surf at AI. He was using finger mullet. This week Tommy and Janet Lawler were fishing on the Ocean City beach and on Sunday Tommy hooked up with a 33” striper and Monday Janet hit two nice blues. She caught a 31” and a 32” blue. Surf fishing most people are using fresh bunker and live chowder clams. Last Sunday a 24” flounder was caught at the mouth of the Ocean City Inlet with an eel. Mostly short stripers and shad at the Inlet are being hooked up. The Rt. 50 Bridge is still producing short stripers. Ray Griffin of Ocean City caught a 33” striper at Little Gull with a Black Salty. Off shore John Clapsadle of West Ocean City was following the gannets and caught 2 – 29’ stripers and 2 -31” stripers and 4 blues in the 36” range. He was jigging bucktails. Carl Hale from Salisbury hooked up with a fat 41 ½” striper off Ocean City just outside the Inlet. He caught a 49”, 44”, and a 42” striper but they had an empty belly. The baits of choice are live eels, spot, and black saltys. No reports on tog fishing as the season is closed until January 1, 2007. We will be open as long as bait is available and the fish are still biting.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Harbor Tackle has fresh bunker, live eels, live chowder clams, and live black saltys.
