Arizona dealt Troy Glaus and top minor league shortstop prospect Sergio Santos to Toronto on Tuesday for Gold Glove second baseman Orlando Hudson and pitcher Miguel Batista.

Reliever Chad Bradford agreed to a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the New York Mets on Wednesday following a season marked by back surgery and his trade from Oakland to Boston. Bradford had worked with Mets pitching goach Rick Peterson in Oakland.
Outfielder Endy Chavez and the New York Mets agreed Friday to a $500,000, one-year contract

The White Sox agreed to a three-year, $29 million contract Wednesday with pitcher Jon Garland and avoided salary arbitration.

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent pitcher Brett Tomko to a two-year contract worth $8.7 million, MLB.com reported on Friday.

Free agent pitcher Kevin Millwood reached a preliminary agreement Monday on a $60 million, five-year contract with Texas, giving the Rangers the legitimate No. 1 starter they have been seeking.

Outfielder Juan Encarnacion and second baseman Junior Spivey agreed to contracts with the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, two more parts of the team's offseason rebuilding

Free agent outfielder Jeromy Burnitz and the Baltimore Orioles have agreed on a two-year contract, pending the results of a physical.

Infielder Miguel Cairo and the New York Yankees reached a preliminary agreement Wednesday on a $1 million, one-year contract.

Jeff Reardon, one of the top relief pitchers in baseball history, was released on $5,000 bail after his arrest on charges of robbing a jewelry store. The 50-year-old former pitcher apologized to officers and blamed his actions on medication he is taking for depression, police said. He was released Tuesday night, with his arraignment set for Jan. 27

Default Mets trade Seo

The Mets traded Right hand starter Jay Sao and left handed reliever Tim Hamulack to the Dogers for right-handed relievers Duaner Sanchez and Steve Schmoll.
Sao A 28-year-old South Korean, Seo made 14 starts for the Mets last season, going 8-2 with a 2.59 ERA and 16 walks and 59 strikeouts in 90 1-3 innings. He also was 7-4 with a 4.29 ERA in 19 starts for Triple-A Norfolk.
The 26-year-old Sanchez was 4-7 with a 3.73 ERA and eight for eight in saves in 79 games last season, tying him for second in the NL in appearances, and he served as the Dodgers' closer late in the year. He was a setup man in 2004, going 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 67 games.

-- Jason Phillips and the Toronto Blue Jays agreed Tuesday to a minor league contract, and the catcher was invited to spring training.

The Houston Astros agreed Tuesday to a contract with outfielder Preston Wilson that will pay him $4.5 million for one season or $28 million over four years.

Jeromy Burnitz finalized his $6.7 million, one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates after taking a physical Wednesday, but only after the unhappy Baltimore Orioles said the outfielder's agent backed out of a two-year deal.

The New York Mets agreed Wednesday to a minor league contract with Bret Boone.
A three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner, Boone's career has plummeted since the 2003 season. He was cut by the Seattle Mariners on July 3, dealt to Minnesota eight days later, then released by the Twins on Aug 1. He batted .221 with seven homers and 37 RBIs in 326 plate appearances.
Boone hit 19 or more homers in seven straight seasons through 2003 and topped 100 RBIs from 2001-03, driving in a career-high 141 runs in 2001, when he hit 37 homers.
He will be given the opportunity to compete with Kaz Matsui at second base. The Mets have nothing to lose.

Theo Epstein back with the Sox. The Red sox announced that Theo Epstein will be hired in a "Baseball Operations Capacity". What that means isnt clear. they already have two co-General managers. What is clear is that Larry Luccino and Epstein have put aside their differences for now and that Theo will be calling the 'personnel' shots.

Thank god, now if they can find a center fielder that doesn't suck.

A sense that their bullpen was lacking depth has prompted the Mets to trade a starting pitcher for reinforcement relief. Less than a month after dealing Jae Seo, their best starting pitcher for a month late last summer, they have dealt their No. 3 starter as well.
Kris Benson was traded to the Orioles on Saturday in an exchange that imports right-handed reliever Jorge Julio -- formerly the Orioles' closer -- and a right-handed starting pitcher with a modest big-league resume, John Maine.
The mets have been trying to deal Benson for some time and most agree they were glad to get rid of his outspoken and sometimes daring and outrageous wife Anna Benson. Anna Benson

Mets trade Anna Benson for a player to be named later. husband Chris.
Apparantly what sealed Chris Bensons fate was the Mets toys for tots drive when Anna showed up half naked to give out presents that interupted her photo op with FHM.
The Mets get a terrible pitcher in return for an under acheiving but adequate starter in husband Chris. Julio showed not much more than a batting practice fastball last year after being demoted from Orioles closer to set up man.

Boston had been trying to send third base prospect Andy Marte and reliever Guillermo Mota to Cleveland. Word is that its alive again as the Philies have sent Jason Michaels to Cleveland for Arthur Rhodes. It wasn't immediately clear how the Red Sox satisfied the Indians' concerns over Mota's health, but indications are that language was being negotiated to protect the Indians if Mota breaks down during the season.
Multiple sources say Mota didn't technically "fail" his physical with the Indians. But his examination raised enough questions that the Indians told Boston they would keep Mota only if the Red Sox upgraded the rest of the package -- which originally had Mota, third-base prospect Marte and catcher Kelly Shoppach heading for Cleveland, with Crisp, reliever David Riske and catcher Josh Bard landing in Boston.

Yes Jim that's what I was mad about. Seems silly now though. Just a shortstop left. Sometimes it's tough being a sawx fan!
