The Dodgers are starting to look like the team to beat in the West and the Cubs in the Central with the signing on Juan Pierre are starting to look good as long as Wood and Prior stay healthy as unlikely as that sounds. The Nats have also strengthened their team, but i still think no one yet compares to the team from Flushing.

I can't wait for next season to start already. But the WBC will help. Is anyone planning on watching that?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - ROYALS Sign Mientkiewicz, Grudzielanek
The Royals agreed Friday to one-year contracts with second baseman Mark Grudzielanek and first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz. Mientkiewicz deal with the Royals calls for a $1.85 million salary and gives him the chance to earn $700,000 in performance bonuses. On the same day Mientkiewicz finalized a contract with the Kansas City Royals, the Red Sox agreed to dismiss the lawsuit they filed last month asking for the Suffolk Superior Court in Massachusetts to order that the ball be returned to the team. Instead, the commissioner's office filed a grievance Friday. Unless settled, the case will be heard by arbitrator Shyam Das.

Yankees Acquire Villone From Marlins. Yankees acquired him from the Florida Marlins on Friday for minor league pitcher Ben Julianel. Julianel, a 26-year-old left-hander, was 5-3 with a 3.90 ERA in 46 games last season at Double-A Trenton.

Braden Looper and the Cardinals agreed Thursday to a $13.5 million, three-year contract, giving St. Louis another newcomer in the bullpen.

The Chicago White Sox agreed Wednesday to acquire Javier Vazquez from the Arizona Diamondbacks for right-hander Orlando Hernandez, reliever Luis Vizcaino and minor league outfielder Chris Young.

The Chicago Cubs acquired Juan Pierre from the Marlins last week for right-hander Sergio Mitre and Double-A pitchers Ricky Nolasco and Renyel Pinto

Carl Everett left the World Series champion Chicago White Sox and agreed Wednesday to a one-year contract with the Seattle Mariners that guarantees him $4 million.

52 mill for 4 years is way more than he is worth, I too am saddend to see him go,he is one of the prmier lead off hitters in the game, I'l be curious how long he can be that effective, that is a deep center field in Yankee stadium, many a good runner will test his arm strength.. Good luck to the Yank's they have a bunch of aging, over payed players, if their production goes down who will take those emense salaries

Take heart gentlemen. Peter Gammons of Espn reports that the Red sox are exploring deals that will bring in Troy Glaus to play third Work a three way deal with the Devil Rays and another club involving shortstop Julio lugo and pitcher David Wells. Also strong interest in the Mariners young centerfielder Jeremy Reed, whom scouts projected to be a better on base guy than Damon, but the price is high and if the Devil Ray deal falls through for Lugo they may look at Alex Gonzalez (Sea Bass) of the Marlins to play short. Lastly they plan to revisit keeping Manny Happy. :) Theres hope . Lets go Mets.

Oh and the Cincinatti Reds sign catcher Jason La Rue

the only hope Ihave is that #4 of the NE Patriots kicks the game winning field goal as time expires in the confrence final game to once again make Peyton Manning wilt like a daisy in the sun.... of coarse next year the league will outlaw field goals in the tital game because Peyton will complain that we (the Pats) have an unfair advantage and kick too many field goals!

And while I complaining about the Colts how is that 7 of their players get named to the pro bowl....

Don't worry, if they have the Eagles' luck, they will all get hurt next year.
