Started the morning out of Sandy Point at 0700 and headed across the Bay to the eastern shore side a mile south of the bridge. Was our first time out this year and never really fished for stipers before we were the new guys on the water. Wasted two hours trolling our way south to Bloody Point and started marking good bait 25 to 35 down over 60 feet of water.
Hooked up as soon as we started marking bait and my son landed a nice 41" rock. Caught on a 20" chartruce umbrella down 30 feet. Continued to loiter in the area of good bait and hooked up 20 minutes later this time letting my buddies son reel in a nice 37" rock. This time caught on a 20" white umbrella down 30 feet.
Had two more hook ups but dropped both on the way to the boat. Had to leave early for weekend sporting events but the kids had a blast and was good to be out there chasing them around for a few hours.
Been lurking on here for a few months just looking around and taking in all the info I could before the season. Makes it easy for a Up North salmon fisherman to come down here and get on some good fishing.
