El Dorado -- The reservoir doesn't have a lot of "excellent" fishing in the forecast, but several popular species look pretty good.
Craig Johnson, KDWP fisheries biologist, said the lake's walleye population is good, though the number of fish longer than 20 inches may be down slightly from last year.
With a lack of white bass, wipers are coming on strong. Johnson said anglers should catch quite a few wipers over the 18-inch length limit this year.
Clear water created by zebra mussels made it hard to test crappie populations in shallow water. Johnson said winter anglers have been doing well.
Both largemouth and smallmouth populations seem to be improving.
