Re: wipers in the Ohio river?
There was a time when I would spend my entire winter on the river fishing for hybrids, I really dont care to catch anything other than hybrids, but since the 911 incident, access to the warm water discharge has been denied to any and all boats. So now I anxiously await the coming of the warm days that will trigger the hybrids to move upriver to the lock and dam. I do well on the hybrids but admittedly I have much to learn. I am curious do the hybrids normally feed at night?
I noticed that last year my son and I had more than a few days that we were able to land more than 30 fish in a day below the Montgomery lock and dam. and all of the fish were weighed and released unharmed, when all the tallies were made it was found that the average for the year was 6.5lb-7.0lb which i think is good, I also think that this year those same fish should be closer to 8-10lb. three years ago, my friend and I conducted the same type of informal survey and found the average to be 8lb, with several fish caught and released over ten pounds.
I am also going to be fishing the Pike Island dam this year, I have friend that lives near there and he does well there.
any input or advice and ideas are welcomed here guys!
thanks for listening.
