Default Sportcast USA Northeast Open Casting Tournament

The Sportcast USA Northeast Open and Northeast States Casting Championships will be held on Saturday March 31 and Sunday April 1, 2007 in Marlton, NJ. The field is available for practice on Friday.

New for 2007 is the introduction of the 100 gram and 175 gram weights. There are now four weights that can be cast: 100, 125, 150, and 175 grams. Every caster can cast any or all weights on either or both days.

The line requirements are: 0.28 mm minimum diameter for the 100 and 125 gram weights and 0.31 mm minimum diameter for the 150 and 175 gram weights. The shock leader must be a minimum diameter of 0.75 mm for all weights. All line and shock leader must be made of high visibility monofilament. Shock leader will be available at the tournament for those who need it.

For directions use mapquest.com. The field is located at 1047 Tuckerton Road, Marlton NJ 08053.

For hotel/motel accommodations use Hotels.com and search in the Mount Laurel, New Jersey area. Most of the hotels are within five miles of the field.

We will start setting up the court at 7 A.M. and we can use all the help that we can get. Casting starts around 9 A.M. so try to arrive early to get registered and help set up the field. The sooner we set up the field the sooner we start.

Donuts and coffee will be available in the morning and lunch will be served around noon time.

I look forward to seeing you guys. I'll be there with several of the new AFAW demo rods as well as the Breakaway HDX and LDX's. Anybody that wants to give them a test drive just let me know!! Friday's practice day would be the best time to test them.

I would say someone will be there at 9 am setting up a field, usually takes about an hour. I'm probably taking off from work all day, I'll be there from the get-go.

I'll check with the other set-up guys and if "their" time differs much I'll post back.

Very cool, watching these guys today gave me an itch I might have to scratch.

Spent some time gawking at the most amazing casts I've ever seen. Saw a few awesome breakoffs too :p I think Tommy actually got a lead to achieve geosynchronous orbit :wee: Got to spend some time with a bunch of genuinely nice guys and learned a LOT. This distance thing is a totally different game then I expected it to be and some of the specialized gear is truly amazing.

If anyone is on the fence about going this weekend to check it out, go - definitely go!
