This is good stuff. I've been doing the Pendulum cast all wrong. I can't wait to get out and try it the right way. I don't have any line on my reels right now, as I just finished tearing down, cleaning, lubing, etc. I might just have to spool up and head down to the beach for some practice when we get a nice weekend.

LOL, he doesn't look near as stupid as I do with my "Running Start" Cast, maybe I should actually read some on distance casting and start doing it right LOL

i read old threads of neils and got so much technical info from conversations with casting gurus. i just magged another reel and put newell bars on it. however i am now in the market for a casting rod as i won;t take my 525 penn off my tsunami rod for this one. i always wan't to go to casing tourneys to watch but i'd much rather fish.

Nice videos, thanks for the links Jim. Ya know what I've just started to realize? I played lacrosse for 4 years when I was in high school I just noticed the other day that when I make a cast I'm using the technique that I'd use to shoot a lacrosse ball which is a big no no. After years of shooting lacrosse balls and building up all that muscle memory it's still in me, fortunately I noticed the problem so I can correct it now. I never noticed what I was doing wrong until I watched the step by step instructions in that clip.......

Brian

I have a custom breakaway built by that guy Nick on the Pendulum cast.
Lucky enough his regular builder Chris had been bitten by a shark that week so bum luck had Nickaway build it. Saweeet Rod stamped nickaway oz.

Check out some of Tommy Farmers vids too and ask him some questions. He'll be glad to answer them.
Hes the U.S. Distance champ year in and year out and world class caster.

Yea I'll have to do that Jim thanks....

I pretty much taught myself how to surf cast....it involved a combination of freshwater casting, muscle memory from lacrosse, and the strange idea that in order to get a long cast you have to go all out and use every muscle fiber in your body. I probably looked like an idiot when I first started haha.....I'm a little better now though......but I'm best off just sticking to boat fishing.

Speaking of casting.....I did a little freshwater fishing the other day with a new bait casting rod.....nothing expensive it's an Abu Garcia ambassador....the whole combo cost me 79 bucks. Let's just say that I've never had a birds nest so big before in my whole life....I hadda peel a couple hundred yards of mono off just to fix it....took me about an hour. Just when I think I'm a master caster I have to learn a whole new way of casting.........such is life.
