Default Rhode Island Reports

Hows it goin guys? I haven't posted in a while. Just got back down to Rhode Island after being in Boston for a little while. I am going to try to post reports every time I go fishing this fall to: a) give a report b) hopefully get me to go more c) hopefully learn something

Thursday: Fished the beach right around high tide. Wind was light offshore and switched moderate onshore after sunset. I used a large wooden plug and dark green storm shad. Nothing.

Sunday: Im now living in Pier Market place in Narragansett and saw blitzes a couple hundred yards off shore on and off all day. Had friends over for football and wasnt able to fish. (wouldnt have been able to reach the fish plus there were surfers in the way anyway)

Sunday night: Fished the rivermouth by myself from about 7:15-8:45. Incoming tide. Started in the surf and worked my way up the river bank. Used dark green storm shad and a blue popper. Nothing. However the stars were ridiculous and I saw an awesome shooting star.

Hopefully Ill be on fish soon. I was going to fish a local rocky area tonight, but couldn't find my headlight. I didn't think it was the safest move to fish that area at night with no headlight. Fingers crossed for a good fall.

Last night went out for about 3 hours. Live eels off the rocks and in the river / rivermouth. Also tried some plugs. Nada.

The river (Narrow river) is filled with silversides. They are packed in there like a bait tank. Fish were jumping around but none wanted to take my eel. Now my reasoning is that in the next few weeks that Shad will fill in and go nuts with the silversides. Then hopefully some bigger bass move in chasing the shad. Is there any legitimacy to this theory?

Ive been getting skunked every night. You know what they say. 90% of the fish get caught by 10% of the fisherman.

Unfortunately I am one of the 90% that shares 10% of the fish.

Im gonna have to mix it up a bit more.

Make sure you are fishing the eel correctly. Reel in as slow as you possibly can and then slow down some more. Let the eel find bottom and make it swim back to you. Run a search about swimming eels at night there are a million posts about it.
