There may be hope yet
I fished the surf for the very first time last summer. I have fished 100 hrs since. I only got a couple of stripers, 24" each, some skates and one decent bluefish while chunking. I had a hold of two really big ones one morning at 5:30, with clams and I didn't know about the "bow to the fish" rule. I tried to set the hook with the rod too high over my head. They both threw the hook after about a minute each. Their power is incredible.
Thanks to this forum and it's members, this year I will be fishing with eels at night and I can't wait!
I've decided to try the 30# fire line on my 850SS, with 50# fluro leader, no weightfor plugging eels. On my other rod I (or my wife) will be chunking with Penn Baitrunner with ande mono.
Thanks for everyone's input. I appreciate the help. ~hopeful DC
