Ok guys, Its Striper Time! I wish all my fellow anglers a great season!

Went out today from shore in Haverstraw. Still some ice floating by. Fished this evening for 2 1/2 hours with bloods. Not a bite. There was a guy out in a boat that pulled in a 26"er though.

Fished from shore in troy today. Had trouble getting my baits to sink, even with a 4 oz weight. Will try again in a few weeks.

(actual report: ice all around, hopefully gone soon.)

Striper reports from the mouth of the Hudson and Raritan Bay are strong. It's only a matter of time now.

Where'd you see those reports? I'm looking on the New York forum and see no activity really since 2014:

They are running good in croton based on this report:

Metro Long Island Fishing Report

Flounder sightings were far and few between this week, but Frank at Bernie’s Fishing Tackle in Brooklyn did report a couple caught at the 69th Street Pier as that is where you will find the warmest water this time of year. According to John at Jack’s Bait & Tackle in the Bronx, anglers are trying other locations, such as the Orchard Beach Lagoon, with no luck just yet. He did mention, however, that the Hudson River is on fire with bass up to 33 inches. Croton, Tarrytown, and Piedmont are all productive spots right now, and sandworms and bloodworms are the most effective baits early in the season. Richie at Stella Maris Bait & Tackle in Brooklyn also said herring are still making an appearance down at the Coney Island Pier.

Fished Henry Hudson today with worms and frozen minnows. Few nibbles, nothing on the fish finder. Beautiful day, who needs fish.

Had a great day down in Croton today! I landed 15 fish between 22 and 30 in., and my buddy had 3 about the same size. all fish caught on herring chunks. The water temp is colder than last year same weekend by about 1.5 degrees, so the fish were very spooky. light hits, and most fish ran towards the boat. Should be some bigger boys next week.
