Nice Fish! Not the ones I was thinking of though. The fish I heard about were caught during the day. No big deal just wondering if any of you guys heard about it. Going out tomorrow depending on the Thunderstorm situation in the AM

Out of curiousity, have you ever recognized a fish that you caught before?

Are they still out there in the mack? Haven't had any luck yet =\ caught small mouth, eels, catfish, couple 10lb carp but no stripers . I even hooked up a 7inch eel which i thought would be perfect.

Seemed relatively quiet for me this weekend. Caught one keeper on a live mack, and had another good sized fish I lost when he pulled the hook pretty close to the boat.

I didn't seem to run into any bluefish, although I lost one bait that I'm pretty sure was after a bluefish bite. I pulled in some of the largest mackerel I have seen this season, and there seemed to be a lot of boats around the merrimack pulling in flounder that I saw. I didn't see many stripers.

Anyone have any recent reports from the Merricmack? I know commercial season just started, so I imagine we'll start seeing some decline in numbers.

We have been avoiding the river and doing quite well. Live macks in 100' of water. Getting our bait there as well.

You are fishing with live macks in 100' of water, right?

For me, every time I'm out far I've had nary a nibble. The furthest out I've caught a striper has been the last buoy.

In the deeper water, how far down are the stripers? I like to fish with balloons (keeps the lines clear so I can see where they are). Do I need to give them a lot of line to get down deep?

Balloons on the surface, mack 7-10 feet down. Drifting, chum bag out, tossing chunks sparingly.ugly ass early.

I've been skunked on stripers and macks the last two times out. Been fishing with frozen mackerel and picked up a number of bluefish, but no stripers.

Still doing well in 100' of water. All the macks you could want. Pulled a few 37-40 inch stripers and lots of 30" blues.
