River Line Question
I fish a small, pretty clear, pretty shallow river in North Georgia. Fifty percent of our fishing comes from a boat and the other half from the bank or from shoals. My problem is line breaks from the bank. I use a strong knot and typically i use 30 lb test line, however when a stripe decides to dart around a downed tree or a rock ledge, its game over.
My questions is when is braid okay?
I'm an avid largemouth fisherman as well but the only time I use braided line is mainly when I'm throwing a top water frog or top water in general. I'm always afraid they'll see the line. How sensitive are Stripers to braided line? I'm curious because we had our lines broken twice last weekend and those were the only two bites we had. I know I'm going to lose fish every now and then due to breaks, been losing stripes for years due to this lol. But the run in our area is just beginning on the river and I don't want to switch to braid if it's going to cause fish to pass on by my bait or not strike my jerk bait or redfin.
Anyways I'm glad my question led me to this forum. It's really a great site, and the people seem to be a lot friendlier here than other forums I have been a member of.
Thanks guys, hope you can help.
