Default Something different

I just ran through another batch, just to keep the tools from getting rusty

Here's what came out.....some basic pencils, a spook, and a couple of Mahogany plugs sealed and epoxied, I was given a plank, and wanted to try it out. No idea how they swim yet, that's tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words, yeah, that parrot pencil has been a real catcher for me, but the red/white right above it is a copy of the plug which caught my personal best this past spring, 36 lbs while I was standing on a sandbar, I don't think I'll ever get tired of thinking about that one.

Beautiful work, man! Amazing finish on them, needles look sweet for the fall, plus I'll bet the spook slays em. I know I'm new here, but if you ever have any wobbly plugs that you want someone yo test swim, kinda give constructive feedback on, I'm your guy.

KM,
The needle was a slow sinker, and it worked pretty well, a young kid from my club wound up with that one. The little swimmer was a definite sinker ( no additional weight added) and you need to have some deeper water to use it. Around here our beaches are pretty shallow, but I'll get to places where I can use it.

Rick,
No, no need to weight the needle as the Mahogany has approximately the same density as lead....OK, maybe not that heavy, but as a fairly new woodworker I was surprised how hard and heavy the stuff was. Sure does look nice when it's finished, though. Like I said, that needle is gone, but I made 2 more for an auction to help a really great guy from my club who is having some hard times related to some health issues he's been having. The one in this picture is basically identical to the last one, and I tried a different shape for the second one, I swam them both tonight before shipping them off, I think I like the rounder one just a little bit better.

Ed, You do absolutely beautiful work. I picked up some mahogany a couple weeks ago and I'll need to try a few needles.

I'll need to fire up the lathe and swim test some prototypes before the water turns hard up here. Looking at your work is getting me all fired up.
