i have never tried it but im sure it would work since the striper do consistantly feed top water but from my experience carp are the primary top water feeders.
so it could be hit or miss i have been toying with the idea of it for a while i would try mosquito flys it the water is still i have seen them take live one quite often. let me know how it works out!!!!!! if i dont beat cha to it

I saw a guy fly fishing a couple of days ago. He hadn't caught anything, but says he does. I didn't ask him what kind of flies he was using. I walked up to the duct with an 11 inch saltwater lure on my rod, threw it out brought it to the surface and was making it thrash around and had a nice striper take it down. The guys were kind of shocked.
Caught a 25 lber a couple of weeks ago. Fishing was really good the first part of November. I went four or five times, and probably caught 40 fish, mostly from 2-5 lbs.
Still looking for my 50 lber though.

Get you a good tight net with a long handle, and find mossy spots in the duct. Scrape up the moss and look for sculpin. Stripers love em. The sculpin aren't very big, normally 2-3 inches long. Fish them off the bottom. You'll catch anything from small to very large stripers on them.

As far as chicken liver or anchoives, I'd go with the anchoives before the chicken liver.
Or this time of the year is a good time to catch large stripers on plugs.
If you can net threadfin shad, they work good too.

Fishing last night. Caught four small stripers up to about 3 lbs. Fishing was a tad slow. Water barely running.
Caught one on a bucktail jig with a white curly tail trailer, the other three came on a shallow diving crankbait.
