I'm throwing my hat in the ring.
The spot Jim, Mike, and I ended up at Sunday morning is a great starting point. Easy to get to, PORTA-POTTIES, grilling, open fields, outstanding scenery....................... Close to more than a few differant types of Striper waters. Wind matters not, just fish a differant spot on the island, yup, Island.
Jamestown..........Beavertail Point.
According to the charts, High outgoing at sunset, Incoming at sunrise..........
New moon. Saturday July 14th.
Great spot for the non-fishing wives to meet the group of scoundrels you guy's are getting hooked up with, kids can play ball, play in tide pools,Etc.
Then we fish.
I'll bring the grill, Charcoal, utensils..................
You bring????????????????
We are minutes away from cliffs, reefs, stoney beach, sand beach.......
It is an Eelin mans paradise.

Only time I've fished Beavertail area has been by boat.
Don't think I've ever been there by land.

Ill bring the dogs and buns! Ed, if you ever want to head down that way before then let me know. Jim showed me the proper way to rig up an eel and set my drag for it so I need to get out and see how things go.

Knowing what to do in the area if I was by boat, how would you suggest fishing it from shore?

The area is one of the easiest locations for a meet. I will get all the details out in a dedicated post soon. I will put signs at all the turns from the end of the Jamestown bridge on the morning of the event.
If you are a Yakker, you DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS ONE! Lash it on the roof, load it into the pick-up, or carry it on your back, just bring it, I got a stretch of water for you! I will also post all recommendations for gear, bait is the easy one, Eels, Eels, and more Eels.
Some of the reef areas are best left to the more experianced, or stay close to someone that is familiar with that type of fishing, Many of the reefs are also geared toward the semi-novice as well. Some require lengthy walk ins, some are right in front of parking areas.
Anyone that has never fished this type of shoreline is welcome to attend a clinic I will hold at the gathering. This will include reading the water, placing the cast, fighting the fish, and methods of landing.
As in the original post, many types of water are only a few minutes drive from the starting point. Recommendations will also be made on spots during specific tidal stages.
This is my old backyard fella's and ladies, and I would love to get each and every attendee many keepers.
