Default Staten Island Shore report

Mostly snapper blues. All over. Shortie bass and some keepers mixed in. South beach (east shore) and the New York harbor showing shore reports up to 44 inches. Looks like the fall run will get set to begin in ernest in a week or two. North shore reporting some bass from the kill van kull. South and west shore not known at this time. Blues hitting plugs. Bass so far bunker is bait of choice. Surface water temps still above 70. Look for fast water and deeper holes.

Default Staten Island

A week of sustained north winds has really screwed up the fishing. 1 lousy coctail blue in 4 tides. The water is clearly dirty. Couldnt get out past the mud lines from the shore. RATS!!! Fished my favorite spot. 2 tides. EL SKUNKO!!! (Rare occurance :D :D )

Moved to my second favorite spot. Morning dawn tide. El skunko. 3 straight. Evening outgoing tide. 1 blue. 1 miss. Encouraging. Water very dirty. Maybe it clears by tomorrow. Then I give it another shot. 2 hour drive to get skunked is a PIA.
Other shore reports from Guys. same. 1- 30 plus pounder so far this fall.
Not great season so far. YET!!! Expecting it to change when the water clears. Noreastern had detrimental effect.

Has to be that. Right.!!

Slow for stripies.

Reports are spotty. A 240 boat tournament concluded from lemon creek over the weekend with very spotty results. A report from 1 - 3 man boat produces 4 skates and a coctail. over night. I had about the same result from the shore saturday night. Will try to get some more results for ya.

Default STATEN ISLAND

From shore. Report from Brian at Biggies Bait and tackle. Page Avenue Tottenville staten Island. There are some small ones around at Oakwood and great kills. There is still plenty of peanut bunker. Guys have been doing very well with top water plugs and storm shad lures. 20 to 26" .

A 31 pounder won the weekend tournament.

Some shop guys fished saturday night and said it was dead.

So its not just me. I was beginning to doubt myself.

Everyone gets excited by the big ones. Reports out of Biggies is that the stripers are very good and a 51 pounder was taken this morning. I dont want to burn the exact spot. but lets say its on the south shore.

Default Schools out.

Took my girl Katie with me fishin. North shore of the island. Water getting clearer daily still a distinct mud line in my favorite spot.
Lots of hits on clams beyond mud line. fresh bunker sold out early AM due to choppy water previous day. Boats didnt haul in many.

Used alewife and clams. Katie caught her first and was dissappointed to learn she couldnt keep it.

finally went out and got 5 skates for my pain. got to fish but what a bummer. wind and 6-8ft seas will keep the fresh bunker out of the bait shops for a few days.

Default Fishing with Striper Jim

Wow!!! What fun I had catching my first fish. Jim was great at teaching a beginner who really never wanted to fish in the first place. I thought I was doing him a favor keeping him comapny at the shore. Now I can't wait to get that pole to catch the big one. I guess my next fish has to be bigger than then one Jim MADE ME throw back. It really was a blast getting those nibbling little bast.... I think I would have caught at least two more but they got away. Oh well, until next time the tide is right or what ever the heck the predictions are. Katie

The weather is just not cooperating this weekend. Gloomy cold steady drizzle. Nice weather if your a duck. Cant get motivated enough to put the rain gear on. Chilly, damp and dreary. Bet the fish are biting though
