Re: Welcome To All The New Guys!!!
Dear fellow fish people, My name is Alan, two kids, a one year old boy and 4 year old girl, wife too..., i live in Wrentham, MA, been surf fishing since i was a kid, gettin into it more over the past five years or so, not much time with the kids etc..
I fish Old Orchard Beach more than any location. The guys at Saco Bait and Tackle are great.
I found your site after meeting Baitrunner at Horseneck Beach last month at about midnight. As i was getting ready to fish, i asked him if he knew much about the area and he took pity on me and filled me in. Very cool and knowledgeable guy.

Re: Welcome To All The New Guys!!!
Thanks for the welcome... I was raised in Bridgeport, CT. My family's hobby was surfcasting, principally RI, but we fished from Cape Cod to Montauk. Living in Vermont since 1975, recently we refurbished a Stratford, CT 2nd-home. I look forward to surfcasting around the Housatonic River. I would like to get acquainted to share info. I'll be in York Beach, ME at the end of August. Any tips for me? ... Vted

Re: Welcome To All The New Guys!!!
Hey all...
Just joined. Really love this site. Thanks to Striper Jim!
I'm planning to start in the surf at Cedar Beach on Long Island soon.
I know the stripers will be scarce for awhile, but I figured I'd start more for my head than my belly.
Do I need a permit here on LI?
Thanks people. Can't wait for that first cast....

NYS beaches are open to the general public and usually require a parking fee. Most of the town beaches require proof of residency, while others charge a special daily parking fee for non-resident parking.

Re: Welcome To All The New Guys!!!
Hi all. I have been a member of this forum for several months, but never took the time to post anything until now. Work happens.
I was born on Long Island, and grew up fishing for stripers on Long Island Sound. That was so long ago that it seems like it was a part of another lifetime. My family moved to the mountains of NC while I was still in high school, and I have lived here since then. I caught my last striper on the beach near Fort Salonga in 1968.
I bought a Boston Whaler Montauk 170 this year, and am really interested in starting to fish for stripers in the lakes of NC, SC, and GA. I'm looking forward to learning about lake fishing for stripers and sharing my experiences here.

Re: Welcome To All The New Guys!!!
Hello Everyone,
My name is Jerry. I live in westport, ma. I just recently purchased a 20' procat to get me out fishing. I've learned a few different ways to fish for stripers but I'm hoping to improve my skills. I've caught a some decent size fish but I have yet to land me a cow.
I'm looking forward to sharing some knowledge and hopefully gaining some.
Tight lines to all!

Re: Welcome To All The New Guys!!!
Hi baitrunner,
I've fished from shore around gooseberry island a few tmes this year. I saw a couple of guys in kayaks fishing one day. It could have been you...lol The kayaks were not very close to where I was. That was before I purchased my boat.
Before I got the 20' boat, I used to fish off a 14' aluminum boat or from the shore. The 14' boat is nice for the westport river. Now I'm experimenting fishing many different areas. Sometimes I'm around Westport other times I'm in the taunton river going toward mount hope bay or the sakonnet river heading toward Newport, RI. I plan to fish around new bedford, fairhaven and the around the islands. I may make a trip a couple of times a year to fish near monomoy island.

Re: Welcome To All The New Guys!!!
Hello
Down here in Stratford Conn for a couple of weeks and was looking for some info on shore fishing. Found this site and a lot of my questions have been answered. Have fished all over and the St Lawrence River is my home base. Fished at short and long beach with only one small stripper and feeding a lot of crabs. Great site with a lot of great posters.
