Rumor has it that the world record striped bass is pending?
I heard at work today that Albert McReynold's 78 ibs. 8oz. striper world record was surpassed by a 79 plus pound fish. Any truth to these rumors? I am curious to know as I might be making a road trip from Maryland this weekend with my boy, fishmaster Willis!

None
A 64 pounder was caught in the oregon Inlet on 2/15. Word is the guy probably wont seek the NC record because of the hassle over speculation about poaching outside the 3 mile limit.

You probably heard of the pending world record striped bass on a fly rod caught by Richie Keatley of Norfolk at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on Dec. 17. 2009.

Keatley's is legal and a monster to be caught on the Fly!  The 64 pounder is questionable much like everything else going on down in VA and NC right now

That's unbelievable, really it is. Particularly when one considers the number of 70 pounders that have been recorded over the course of history. To have two in one morning. Amazing

well, i only know it to be two... you must've gotten the wrong info cuz i clearly heard two cause jim was right there at montauk with me and i don't believe he would lie about that sorta thing..so it was two seventies he said he caught. why must i always come to the defense of everyone? if the man say's he caught two seventies in one morning then he caught two that morning..... what does one have to do to get credit for thier accomplishments in this day and age anyway... if you caught two seventies wouldn't you want everyone to know about it? geez....

In less than 60 days the new official world record striper will be announced caught in CT on a reef in the Long Island Sound 81.8 lbs an amazing feat by any angler!
