The wind was blowing pretty hard but all reports were that it would settle after dark so we headed out. I put the boat in an area where I have been watching for awhile and as the season picks up I knew could be a spot that could produce. Once in our area I settled it down to about 2.5 kts and set the first rod out, not even in the holder and we were on and on hard, 1st fish boated was a lively 28" bass, from there we boated 12 more from 27" to almost 32" in about an hour. We had a ball and hooked up with another local boater from town who called me on the radio to see how I was doing; after a quick invite from us he also came into the area.
Mackerel pattern plastics trolled just off the bottom in 24' of water did the trick tonight. I did try to dip the tube and worm and for some off reason it seemed like I couldn't get the tube down deep enough with my wire which was very odd.
Here is a picture of the biggest one we boated and kept for dinner (just under 32" but on the thin side. In the belly was fresh squid and herring.
