what rod?????!?

Kartoon i was on the beach recently when i hooked into a brown shark and snapped my rod in half it was a 150 dollar rod and this was before i had a job and i am only 15 so maybe we are the same age.

Anyways i went to my local tackle shop and got a pinnacle 9foot medium action rod weighted for 1-5 oz for 40 dollars so it was a good deal for not having a job. It is a good solid rod and i still have it but i got a job now and i am now the proud owner of a 10 foot penn surf rod.

Btw if your from Jersey i can give you a good tackle shop to go to.

C'mon guys... there's gotta be someone here who has a dozen rods just laying around that youre not using, and will never use again... Help a beginning surfcaster out and sell him one cheap... I'm only 3 years in and have not yet accumulated many rods, but honestly... you'll feel good about yourself for helping, he'll appreciate it, and good will come back to you... At least check your garages gentlemen... if I had a decent spare I KNEW i'd never use, it would be his for the cost of shipping... I say this because someone helped me once when I was broke.... now that I'm hooked I even more broke!!!

Right you are! Good eels and soft bait rods. Along with light lures.
First I got on 13th birthday (46 yrs ago).
Other around '85 or so.

thats a nice wrap float. those rods are pretty old but still look new.

how long can you use a rod?? that rod is 46 years old and you still use it, thats some major upkeep right?

I'm telling you, you can make a way better rod for $120 easy!

Just me, but I would steer you away from pure graphite as in the Lami Ron, which IMO is a piece of crap. You want a blend of fiberglass (sometimes called e-glass) or some other kind of glass and graphite. I hate graphite, but that's me.

sportsmen's den in quincy is good. He'll build it for you, but you should just ask advice first.

He's right on 3A. Past the oil tanks. If you are going north, his shop is on the right.

Likewise he is the only distributor around who sells Lamiglass and What ever is left of G-loomis.

rod building is easy.
1)buy the blank and what's called a plate seat.
2)find the spine or way it bends naturally
3)tape the plate seat on wherever you think will feel right
4)glue on the tip guide
5)get your remaining guides set on to where they "look" right.
6)space em out till the line won't slap or touch the rod upon being stressed.
7)glue and wind them in place.

that easy.
