That sucks...
Was really hoping to see the word "RELEASED" somewhere in here, but alas.... again I am disappointed.

Well hopefully they got to lay some eggs this year. Limiting out on thirty pound fish may help a charter boat today but tomorrow will probably be a different story.

But they only kept 1 fish each(?). That's a good thing.
If I paid for a charter ride I'd want table fare too.

Re: Maridee Charters - 61 lbs, 58lbs and 51lbs
if i paid for a charter i would want pics of the fish. drummed up some business for him at the dock i'm sure.can only guess they didn't know if they'd get another fish so screw it i'll keep it. sure the cap't was glad. from the looks of the pic i'd say it was a no brainer to kill em.
can you imagine some of us tossing fish like that back? and the face of that cap't when ya did?

Very nice fish indeed. I can see both sides of the coin on this one. Who's that guy in the 2nd and 3rd picture, he looks like he should be chopping down trees......with his bare hands!!!!!!

I don't know these guys and I don't know their fishing habits. I don't mind someone keeping one or two trophies, or food for the table. It's also some great feeling watch a great warrior swim away to fight another day.

I don't get it. 3 guys keep 3 nice fish. What's the big deal?
Not like they raped the Pope or anything.
If there were any problems with the stocks the Gov't would change the regulations in all our best interest.
They shouldn't be condemed because of envy. ( )
Watching them swim away may be nice,,, but grilled fish steaks taste better!

Gary I couldnt agree more.
All the anti keeper sentiment reminds me of reformed drunks telling me I cant drink.
Ok - so Ill just stop right now.
Im all for conservation and catch and release but I too like most of us, lived through the moratorium and I really only began striper chasing when it was lifted and the regs were 36 inches.
My mom used to ask me to bring one home once in a while.
She still does. Two years ago on mothers day I brought her a fish and she was delighted.
True there is lots of pressure on the fish but any true blue striperman or Charter Captain knows that, after all their livelihoods depend on replenishment of the species.
Bravo on a couple of great fish. In a few years the schoolies will grow up and have babies.

Re: Maridee Charters - 61 lbs, 58lbs and 51lbs
Drives me nuts!
I see the "C&R" guys all the time on the beaches & jetties.
Sure they catch and release. 10-30 shorts at a time. And they stay on them.
Those are the fish of tomorrow and the seeds of millions. But these guys stay on them and declare it's alright because only 2 in 10 die from wounds or whatever.
Alright, it's only wasted dead, never to spawn, dinners of tomorrow.
And that's okay?
I get annoyed when folks say they caught 30 schoolies and not one was legal.
What the hell? Fish generally school according to size. Rarely a cow in with the squatters. Just can't compete for the diner, and dinner's too small to be worth it.
Last fall I saw a bunch of guys catching 16 inchers to the south. Many flyrods and some lite tackle guys were having a ball. Probably in the hour I watched, there were easily 100 juvenile fish caught.
Several were the "Preachers" of C&R from another site.
To me, that's up there with "Wanton Waste"
Then I hear people get criticized for keeping a couple of aging cows probably ready to kick off anyways (often by the same C&R guys).
I know, it's my screwed up way of thinking again. Sorry.

Do I keep a bass once in a while? Yes.
Was it legal? Yes.
Are they fish of a lifetime? Yes.
Am I jealous? Yes.
