Artificial Eels?

I'll bet the Gulp eels are amazing but I'm too cheap to pay that kind of $$ for a rubber type eel.

I ordered a few gulp eels but I cant find any sluggo eels for sale. anyone know if the Femlee eels are any good?

Also, does anyone know how to rig a fake eel to a bucktail jig or would that be a bad idea? And is black a good color to go with for nightfishing

I like throwing a Gulp black rubber eel on a 2-4 oz jighead at night into fast moving water. Let it hit the bottom and let the current do the rest.

Thanks Jim. Ive been looking around and Im just wondering whether sand eels or regular eels would be the best thing to buy or both? I can figure out how to rig them once I decide which to get. In the spring are sand eels more prevalent than regular american eels or should i just go with a larger eel with a jighead setup. Thanks

Spring, at least early spring, Eels of any kind are not prevelant in size. sand Eels will begin to show up in large pods of very small fish. The size of a large sewing needle. The prevalant bait early in the year, are squid and herring, and soon after sand worms begin to migrate in the flats. this does not mean that Black eels will not produce fish, it is thought that Stripers kill eels, not eat them, therefore they will produce fish at any time of year. Some schools of thought say that in my neck of the woods, Rhode Island and north an Eel is best used after the full moon in May, as this is when the elvers start to migrate into the rivers. If I were to go fishing for the sparse population of hold over fish in my area right now, I would start with an Eel.

Thats a relative thing seeker. As gunny said It depends on the bait thats present.
Sand eels are used as teasers in front of your rig. Sold as red gills.
These fish undulate in the water column and are usually near the bottom
Live eels are best at night. If you use them In shallow water just cast uptide and retrieve slowly. Dont let it sit because it will ball up or snag.
When you cast into deeper water, let it work its way to the bottom then start a slow retrieve. They want to head to the bottom naturally.
