Default 2011 Striper Pictures - Photos of twenty eleven fish

Since the Stripers blew by the Chesapeake Bay for the second year in a row, Chris, JC, Thuy, Tommy and I felt that if we were to enjoy some beer battered striper anytime soon we would need to head south, way south to find the fish. After looking at the weather we decided Sunday would be they day and after hearing that the Oregon inlet ramp was a zoo on Saturday we figured we would make the 50 nm run from Rudee rather than tow to OI. We found the fish at the Wright Memorial barely inside the 3 nm line. We steady picked up fish and had our limit of 10 fish from 25 to 40 pounds by 10:45. After that we played around with the fish catching and releasing ‘em on light tackle. Packed up and ran home at 1:00 pm

All the fish were caught in 39 degree water, 60 feet of water, 8 nm south of Duck pier right at the 3 nm line. The fish were not picky they hit everything we had out.

All in all we ended up catching about 25 fish to 40 pounds or so. A super day on the water. Thanks to: Tommy, Thuy, JC and Chris!!!

We went out Saturday morning and while the fishing was slow we were rewarded by two Citation Stripers. My son Jake caught a 35 pounder and our friend Rodney caught a 41 pounder. The seas were rough and the winds were honking but it was a great day.

Hi guys

just a few pics to show you that we do have a few stripers here on the left coast in front of Los angeles of all places.

They are very few and far in between but here's the proof that they're here

Enjoy

Can anyone explain to me how you guys seem to have such liberal limits when I can only keep one fish per day in the Hudson River. What state are you guys fishing?

Thats NC - 2 fish per man.
New York Salt is 2 per day 1 at 28 and 1 over 40' - party boat in NY is 2 at 28".
The Hudson just happens to be 1 at 18" .
- Jersey is three per with a bonus tag.

Most east coast states are two per.

I don't know why the limits are the way they are in the Hudson but it may have something to do with the fish entering the river to spawn. So a conservative approach is taken?

Went out to do some inshore fishing around the Tappen Zee bridge at 2:30pm and fished until 5 with just a nibble. After that I lost all hope and bam got one, It measured 22in but I didn't have a scale to weigh it. I was useing a fish finder rig with a bloodworm on a 5/0 circle hook.

1 per day here in Maine, EITHER between 20-26" OR over 40".
