Must be a Tica Taraus....nice reel. That model is pretty big, but I still might be interested Steve. Any way of getting any of the other models? If not, still would probably be interested. That reel is like a couple hundred smackers I think.

New Tica High Speed Spinning Reels
TAURUS TP Series

http://www.digitaldagger.com/reels/tica/tica.html

This place has them for $172.00 and free shipping?

I would consider one of these after some touchy/feely. Maybe need to run to Bass Pro and check one out 1st?

It doesn't have 24 logo's on the side of it does it? :D

As far as I know, they stopped making the black Taurus's. I guess they made they silver anodized coating better so its more resistant to the salt environment. I also think the Taurus's come with a spare spool. The spare spool is one size bigger for some reason....like if you get the Taurus 4000, you get a Taurus 5000 spare spool, etc..

If it comes with line on it, I would throw that right out lol. Actually, just use it for backing the Fireline :)

They are sick reels, if you can get one fer undah a hundrid smackiz, you're gittin a hell of a deal.

The 6000 is the biggest Taurus model, pretty big for everyday fishing unless your a dedicated surfcaster. It's 22 ounces.

Jonny,
The thing doesn't come with any line on it. Steve is just jeking my NASCAR chain with that Jeffy stuff.

Would a tica (tp4000sh) be about then same size as a 400 or 300 mitchell or penn 4000 My friend asked me about the reel. He is putting it on a 7.5 ft. med. plugging rod.
He wants to fish the mangroves in fla. in a boat. :?: Plugging :?: jigging :?:
The tp4000tica is high speed 6.2 Also what would the price be.

The tica Tp4000S
has 13 ball bearings 8.9 ounces 5.2:1 gear ratioo and holds 12/270 wholesales for $126.00
The mitchells they make now are all lower end reels. Mitchell 300x 5 bb 11 ounces 6.1:1 8/240 wholsale $30
Penn 4000: Ill assume you mean spinning series. Pen4400ss 12 ounces. 5.1:1 10/200 $69 wholesale. The closer reel to line capacity is the Pen5500ss 14.25 ounces 12/275 ws price ~$80. wholesale

Retail they add about 35%

What about the size, is it the same size as the Penn 4400ss I like the balance of the 4400ss on a 6.5 ft. or 7 ft. rod for plugging.

sea sea,
It looks to be a bit larger than the 4400, I have one of those on a 7' Daiwa Eliminator for my jetty/beach plug rig, and I like almost everything about the combo, except that the reel just doesn't seem to like the braid I'm using, I have been having very good luck using Stren Super Braid, on all my cheap-ass reels I've been using up till now, but the Penn just gives me fits with the braid on it, my last trip down to the jetty this year I got about 10 casts in before the line started hinting that it was going to F' up, then a few casts later it did, giant birds nest with about 50 yards of line in the water,it just seems like the Penn is not laying down tight wraps, when casting the line sometimes "sinks into" the wraps on the reel, acts just like the bail is closed.....won't release the line. I may be retiring the Penn to one of my freshwater setups (that don't get used much anymore) and finding a Tica Libra, 3500 or 4500 to try out.

Ed
