Default Fishing with Eel

So I was bridge fishing last night with Herring using a rig with a slide bank sinker. I felt a tug and ended up snagging an eel. I kept the eel and cut it up to try using for bait (Figured, can't hurt). I didn't feel any action on it, but then again, I didn't feel much action with the herring either.

Is eel a good bait to use when fishing for stripers? I like it because it stays on the hook better.
Thanks

No bait in the world compares to a live eel when it comes to catching striped bass......

I don't think a striper will eat an eel but if you leave them alive and cast them out and reel them in slowly and by some coincidence a striper is yawning in the area the eel may swim in his mouth thinking it's a place to hide. Actually Eel= Big Striper

Wow, I had no idea!

What sort of methods do you use when fishing with live eel?

Can eel be frozen and used as cutbait?

Do not cut them, observe said individual in above photo's, he's part Eel himself :o) Use them whole, either alive (preferred) or dead. Do a search on here about fishing with Eels, once again, the Eel King above will enlighten you, and offer many know methods to catching Bass using Eels.

The search feature is your true friend..........................................
Virtually every forum has threads on using Eels.
The Roc has blessed us with much knowledge on the use of Striper candy snakes.
So much so, That I have felt no reason to even touch the subject, I have even learned a couple of things that I did not already know, after 35 years of using them for cow's.

I too would have live lined that eel. They don't call 'em striper candy for nothing.
