Default Jigging Below the Castleton Bridge

I have jigged herring under the Berkshire spur bridge, but have never tried further south. I know further north up to the dam it gets easier, but how far down can you jig up herring in the river itself?

83 views, 0 responses. I take that as meaning it isn't done, but will give it a try anyway and report back. Staying at Schodack SP for a long weekend.

The east side shoreline above the park can be very productive for herring.

I've jigged up Herring a few times in front of the Hannacroix creek when they are in thicker. Typically when I launch at Schodack, Coeymans, or HH I look in front of HH on the flat first and if nothing then just zip up to Albany area, bait up and run back down to fish.

I've jigged herring at Catskill plenty of times. Not sure why it would be any different further south.

Couldn't jig any under the Castleton bridge this weekend, so i didn't try further south. Easy north of HH at my secret spot about a mile or so below the Port.
