Default Lake Buchanan Question

Stupid question but when a report says fishing is good at 30' does this mean the fish are 30' deep (in water 30' and greater) or they are where the lake is at a depth of 30'?

Default Finally, An Intelligent Question

Striperfever:

What is meant by the 30' depth is, in general, that is the depth at which fish are being seen on the LCR and/or caught. Naturally, striper being a pelagic species, will use the whole water column at various times. It doesn't matter if the bottom is 40' deep or 60'. Baitfish and therefore stripers, have been holding/feeding at right around 30'. That is the depth they have been preferring during the reporting period. As the water warms, baitfish move shallower and stripers follow.

So the 30' is just a starting point. Weather conditions, current and other things will occur to change that depth during the day.

Great, thanks for the response. We are going to try Buchanan this weekend. After we come back empty handed and frustrated we will probably have to give you a call to book a trip so you can teach us a thing or two about these monsters....

What are your rates for full and half day? Didn't see any prices on your page.
