Default any one ever use black saltys for stripers

Im up here on Beaver Lake in AR. Where we have to hold our shad, and they can be rough holding. Has anyone here had any luck with black saltys. Driving to farm tomorrow. I can get them 4-7 inches at about $3.50 lb. Are they worth a full day of driving to go get a couple hundred.
Have any of you guys ever used them. Thanks for any info.
