Striper Lures and Bait 101

I am very new to the vast world of striper fishing. As a matter of fact I am taggin' along with fellow 247 member Chazx2 this weekend for my first ever striper trip. Along the excitement, there's a lot of confusion about lure buying. I know the saying goes "you dont know unless you try it", however, I've found out that a lot of money can be wasted on useless lures and color choices. I've already spent well over $100.00 on lures and accessories just for this weekend and I have a feeling I won't even use half of it. Any help with color or type recommendations is greatly appreciated. Thanks and TIGHT LINES!

We will be doing primarily trolling and downrigging. From what I understand... Deep is the ticket this time of year. Any recommendations on speed.

Ahh, post this thread in the boating forum, and try a search in there as well...
