Also this season Im gonna try and stop using the snap swivels, as much of a convenience they are! The mustad especially look very flimsy and easily bendable, Id rather not chance it when (when... Im optimistic) I sink a 50 #'er!
All last season though, I use a 3 foot leader (30-40 #) with a 6/0 straight hook (presnelled, I wish they came in circle, but at 2 bucks for 6 hooks, nearly disposable! hand made, not china factory crap, we get them from a New Jersey tackle guy) A plastic fish finder of course, 2 1/2-3 ounce pyramid, and an improved clinch to my main line.
I know that Cabelas sells presnelled Eagle Claw circle hooks if you're interested. (Man, I sound like a friggin' advertisement for them!) Dick's Sporting Goods had them last year as well. I picked up several packs. Now, I pretty much buy Gamagatsu red light wire in line circles and tie them myself. It's how I started fishing for stripers and prefer it because I'd rather tie my own knots and feel comfortable than use a snell and loosea monster to someone elses' mistake.
