Covers Susquehanna Flats and River, Chesapeake and Delaware Bays
Anglers interested in learning more about catching stripers are invited to an informative day-long presentation all about catching stripers on Susquehanna Flats, in the Susquehanna River, and in Chesapeake and Delaware bays.
It will be held in Lancaster on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Distlefink Inn, 917 South Prince St., and will feature four experts in the art of striper fishing.
A total of four separate seminars will be provided, and each speaker will pinpoint the exact locations of striper fishing hot spots, and they will present in-depth information about the tackle, lures, baits and techniques needed for successful striper fishing:
* Stripers on Susquehanna Flats, by George Acord, two-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier, professional guide, and part-owner of Susquehanna Fishing Tackle in Lancaster. Acord will discuss how anglers can catch huge 15- to 40-pound stripers on plugs and plastics during the spring catch-and-release season on Susquehanna Flats.
* Stripers at Conowingo Dam, by Mike Bowen, Fishing Department manager at Eastern Marine in Newark, Del., former charter boat mate, and Susquehanna River striper specialist. Bowen will provide detailed information on where and how to fish lures and bait for exciting light-tackle striper action at Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River.
* Chesapeake Bay Stripers, by Captain Scott Hopkins, professional Chesapeake Bay guide (Fly's Down guide service), and fly fishing and light-tackle striper expert. Hopkins will share his proven techniques for locating and catching Chesapeake Bay stripers throughout the year.
* Eeling and Chunking for Stripers, by Keith Kaufman, former managing editor for The Fisherman magazine, and outdoor writer for numerous fishing publications. Learn how, where and when to drift live eels, and chunk with bunker, for big stripers to 50 pounds in Chesapeake and Delaware bays.
Attendees will be eligible to win a number of exciting, free door prizes, including tackle, fishing books and videos. Books and videos will also be available for review and purchase. Attendees will receive a number of free, informative handouts. Coffee and beverages will be provided; lunch is "on your own."
Advanced registration is recommended. It's only $20, and $15 for women and children under 14 (admission at the door will be $25).
