Default Re: Summer Fishing the Hudson

I fish both rivers many times throughout the year after the stripers leave. There are plenty of people who know a lot more about fishing but here's what I've learned.
  • It's not easy to consistently catch quality sized small mouth, large mouth, or pike/walleye.
You either have to fish one of the dams/locks where there is highly oxygenated, fast moving water OR cover a LOT of shoreline with cover, etc.

It is very easy to catch large catfish, carp, perch, crappie, etc.. at least it is for me.
