Appreciate it. From the research I've been doing, looks like the canal is definitely gonna be my target. I picked up a few sand eel swim baits and I'm gonna order some soft crab baits and larger pencil poppers as well - try to target the entire water column. Found a fishing map online with 20 something spots listed on it, but from the look of it you can post up anywhere along the canal and toss in.

Question about live bait though - here in NY blood/sand worms and chunk herring are our bread and butter when it comes to shore fishing. I heard in MA you're not permitted to use herring. Any one ever have luck with worms or any other chunk/live bait in the canal? Is this even permitted?
