Has anyone seen any striper action out on the East River or Staten Island?
I often go fishing on Randal's Island, Fort Wadsworth or The Conference House on SI. Haven't had any luck yet.
I think they will show up hard and furious. I was up in the Hudson last weekend and the Herring are showing. Marked a lot of bait balls. Bunker are normally not to far behind in the bay.
I live in Atlantic Highlands and look forward to my first striped bass trip of the season. Any sense of how the season is shaping up this year? From the thread, it looks like fishing got a late start due to the cold winter. Will mid-May be a good time to head out?
Only guys I know that have it are Great Kills Bait and Tackle on Hylan and Midland Bait on Fr. Capodanno... as for it being fresh I like Midlands better. There has been a lot of bunker in the water latley but this storm is gonna prob push them out a bit.
Put this one up in Jesrey too.
Great time today. Trolled up 7 nice fish with my son. Bottom feeding in the am then they moved to the top. Great visua blasting through the surface.
Largest fish was 36" - 19.5lbs.
