I picked up 4 weakies in early June while targeting small bass and big blues off the Rockaway south shore beach. My first four ever, 31", 26",25" and 17" all on separate days....weird. The big ones on Daiwa SP Minnows in the wash , while the last one was on a metal with a tube but also in the wash..so I would have to agree they are not afraid of coming in close.
Then it went quiet for 45+ days and here we are finding them again in the surf but much smaller. Unfortunately their are snappers, small fluke, robbins etc all chasing any small profile lures making it hard to work solely on weaks. Thanks for this great thread. I seem to be living the story so to speak and will be targeting them next June.
