Norfork Lake AGFC stocks hybrid stripers
AGFC stocks hybrid stripers
Norfork Lake has just received its first of many fish stockings of 2006.
A few weeks ago the lake received an unexpected stocking of adult blue catfish which had entered a damaged net pen at the Pot Shoals Net Pen Facility on Bull Shoals. Rather than releasing them back into Bull Shoals where they could damage another pen and certainly would eat some of the feed fed to the penned trout, they were hauled to Norfork and other sites.
On Wednesday, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stocked a truck containing 13,575 large fingerling hybrids into Norfork at the Cranfield Marina.
More hybrids will be coming in the next weeks from the Andrew Hulsey State Fish Hatchery near Hot Springs.
In 2005, the AGFC, the Missouri Department of Conservation and Mammoth Spring National Fish Hatchery stocked nearly 900,000 fish in Norfork.
This number included over 300,000 walleye, over 200,000 stripers and 44,000 hybrids. Other fish stocked were channel and blue catfish, black crappie and bluegill.
