What do you have for a set-up? Rod and Reel?

Im not familiar with the area that you fish in but 20 pound line is the best all around in most areas. If you plan on using a 30 pound leader (which is fine) you should really be using a 20 pound main line in my opinion.

For lures you should be fine connecting them directly to your main line....but if you get snagged using 14# mono you will start to lose a lot of money.

There is a ton of info already on the site so do some searches and browse around....you will find a TON of knowledge here that will answer just about any question that you have.

Good luck!

Oh and Npike asked a great question...everything depends on the size rod and reel you have.

not familar with the Delaware fishery but I fish the hudson river so I have to deal with a strong current while fishing... I use 2 rods (1 9' with a shimano baitrunner and 1 8' with a okuma 40 series baitrunner)... Id say you can run with either 17-20 lb mono line and you should be fine... Im thinking youll be using herring as bait so the 30-40 lb flouro leader to a 5/0 to 6/0 hook should be best... you can also tie on your lures directly to the main line with 20lb but my also want to use a leader with this also... just my 2cents... I use 40lb braid with a 20lb flouro leader about 90% of the time on the river and then bump up to 50lb braid with a 40lb flouro leader out in the ocean... tight lines and best of luck!
