Default Wappingers Bait & Tackle Shop

Hey All,
Can anyone tell me what happened to Fisherman's World in Wappingers Falls? I drove by to go see Lou over the weekend and find out what he was going to be charging for bloodworms and bunker and the shop was empty, sheetrocked, taped, and a For Rent sign in the window? Are we relegated to the Big Box Bullies from now on?

Paul

Was this the guy on 9 by Wappinger Creek? *&%$ I was going there this weekend! Where else is there for bait/gear in Southern Dutchess County? I'm a new fisherman to stripers and was looking for advice at the same time.

Doesn't surprise me. I for one stopped going there a while ago. I had gotten some ice fishing bait from him a few times and I felt like I had to jump through hoops to make it happen. He was doing "by appointment only" for a while.

I highly recommend the boat house on wappingers lake. Vince is a real nice guy and sells blood worms at the cheapest price around. He also has fresh herring when he can but he usually sells out of herring quick. He also has most of the basic tackle you will need to hook some stripers.

I go fishing near the Beacon Train Station with an old timer I work with whos been going there for quite some time now and loves it. I had no idea about vinny and i've lived in Fkill / Wapp for my whole 21 years

First striper season for me, we went out today just for shits and giggles to catch some cat and eel, too cold ironically.

Stripes next week maybe? =D

P.S. I hate bloodworms -.- Can I just use herring?

Mike

Actually I have a question maybe one of you guys can answer.

Im buying my Surf setup in the next few days, trying to not break the bank (250-300 tops$) I was looking to use this reel

https://secure.gandermountain.com/mo...ct/details.cgi

Since I can buy it at Dicks, it'll make life easy. I just need to buy a Matching rod. Any suggestions? There was a Penn Rod that was 11ft they are selling which is the same price as the reel but maybe I can pick something up locally so I dont have to wait on the shipping and or pay for the shipping?
