Went out this morning between Cobb Island & St. Clements Island in the Potomac took about 1 hour to get one on. After a brief struggle was able to put it in the cooler a little over 37". Fished for about another hour and the damn wind started kicking up so decided to be thankful and pulled in the lines and headed back home, I believe I waited at the ramp longer than it took to catch the fish since all the croaker fishermen got the news this week. I did mark alot of fish this morning on my depthfinder.
Trolling? What's the right bait to use right now? Will a chartreuse umbrella rig work? Medium, large? I know that you want to try to match the size of the baitfish, so what size is right for this time of year?
I am using umbrella rigs and big parachutes in tandem with a 9" shad double hooked and also the 6" shad in Charteuse and white. Seems when they are hungry they will hit anything but very slow till that time., kind of boring but when one gets on it makes you forget the wait..... Hoping to get back out this weekend was laid up the past. Good Luck!
