Default Fall Striper fishing in the Hudson

Has anyone on this forum fished successfully for stripers in Hudson or its tributaries in the Fall? River Basin Sports (Catskill area) said the following in their October 15 Fishing Report:

"In addition – right now there is a fall contingent of striped bass in the area. The best bet to catch some of these is at the outflow of any of the river’s suckholes. The stripers just wait for the baitfish to be washed out of the back bays and delivered to them on a continuous conveyor belt.”

Obviously the time is past already this year, but I'm going to calandar this for next year to fish the Rondout at the falls if it sounds like there is a chance of success. Any fall striper fishing input appreciated!

Again, I have no experience here - but River Basin Sports is in Catskill, which is 20 miles north of the Rondout, and their fishing reports repeatedly talk of catching fall stripers. The water temperature (i.e. "too cold") would be more of a function of timing (Sept/Oct/Nov) then location. Not saying the striper fishing would be incredible in the Fall, but it seems that fish in the 25-35" range are caught that time of year- so just wondering if anyone on the board has caught stripers in the Fall in the mid-Hudson area.

Put it this way. It behooves River Basin to post reports for business reasons.
Not saying that guys are catching resident fish they likely are and regulars often.
The bite slows when the water temps dip below 50 degrees and pretty much stops below 45*
Metabolic principles. The fish are slower and dont need to feed as much.
Thats probably a good time to use jerk baits and slower presentations.
Some of the warmer water areas probably see some action.
The party boats dont work the fall but many guys catch fish in the lower river i hear of it all the time. River basin is further north in the Catskills
Im sure some of the creeks hold fish in deeper holes.
