Default Rapala Lures for Stripes

Anyone have any luck with the Rapala lures for stripers? I just got a bunch and wondered if anyone used them for stripers. On tv their the best... Havent tried them yet but i struck a good deal and got about 10 different ones for fresh and salt water.

I have caught bass up to 33's on the original 7" "Finish Minnow". I put stronger hooks on it. I've used the Shad Raps, and the Magnums with success as well.
I haven't used them in years, just because there are so many others.

All of the jointed minnows work in the spring.
All the slimmer lure types - like thundersticks - smithwicks - they all work well on the flats.

The deeper divers too in the Hudson river during spring. shad raps x raps
I havent used them trolling but ive seen it was the magic lure for different guys
between 16 and 20 feet. Herring and mackeral and trout colors worked.

I'll second the X-Raps. I change the split rings out with heavier rings and upgrade the hooks to 2/0 VMCs. The bunker color has worked well.

I like the 7" original floaters a lot.

By playing with the hook sizes you can manipulate the action considerably.

By placing a heavier hook in the tail or in the lead hook position you can make it rest at a head up or down position. While it is in this position the next twitch will make it suddenly change direction after the pause.

Also by adding two heavy hooks it will become a slow sinker or a slow floater.

Plus they are a pretty good size, at 7" you'll catch plenty of schoolies while it is still big enough to attract a cow.

Dude, TV is for selling lures that catch fishermen. You wanna hit some bass and angry bluefish, stock up on x-raps. Even better if you can get some discounted ones this winter when some guy on the bst is sellin his to buy custom wood. They are a versatile lure, expecially the ghost one. You can work them deep in moving water. Try it as one of your first plugs oput of the bag, you wont be sorry.

There is a few spots in RI, that have outflows from salt ponds. I cast 'em into the outflow, and let then drift out. The bass hang in the rip, waiting for. baitfish. I use a slow retrieve, stop and go, twitch type , on the way in.

I picked up a couple Slivers the other day, like the looks of it. Hope it catches fish too, not just fishermen.

Rapala's work, as well as any lures. Some better than others, and some not at all. They are getting more expensive everyday.
