Long time reader, first time poster. I started going after wipers on the fly last fall and I'm pretty hooked. Haven't caught any large fish yet, but I hope to this spring. I've fished mainly from the dam and across from Four Winds though this year I hope to get out on a boat a couple times.
I went out today to the dam and fished from 3:30pm to 5:30pm to no avail. Bit early I think and the water is way up and quite murky. BUT I did see two large fish bust right up next to the dam in about 1 foot of water and saw some bait fish running right up against the dam as well. So that's encouraging. I think a big problem today was the murkiness of the water. The fish just couldn't see my fly.
The water temp right at the dam was 46 degrees F.
Here is a report from a successful trip last fall:
Does anyone else fish for hybrids on the fly?
