Arizona Lake Pleasant Free Fishing Day
Get your fishing poles and picnic baskets ready: free fishing day is Saturday, June 12 in Arizona on public waters.
Arizona Game and Fish officials say that during Arizona's free fishing day, anglers do not need a fishing license to fish the state's public waters. As part of the event, fishing clinics are being offered at many locations on June 12 near Wickenburg, including:
- Lake Pleasant Regional Park, 10-lane boat ramp area (near the visitor's center), in Phoenix, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., sponsored by the Game and Fish Department and Maricopa County Parks. Sign up at the Game and Fish Department booth to get free loaner rods and reels, free bait, and volunteer instructors to help you with your personal tackle. Families are encouraged to attend. Lake Pleasant is home to largemouth bass, striped bass, sunfish, and channel catfish. Pleasant is the only state lake with white bass and white crappie. For more information, call Terry Gerber, interpretive ranger at (602) 372-7460 ext. 202.
