Coffey County Lake is a hot spot this week ? literally. Between the weather and the usual influx of warm water from the power plant, the water temperature is climbing. And the fish are responding. Coffey County officials say the fishing for white bass and wipers is excellent, while it?s good for largemouth and smallmouth bass.

COFFEY COUNTY: 65 degrees at the hot-water outlet, 46 degrees mid-lake, clear, 1 foot low. Outlook: Coffey County reports: white bass, wipers excellent on Rat-L-Traps, crankbaits; smallmouth, largemouth bass good on crankbaits.
■ MILFORD: 38 degrees, clear, normal. Outlook: Jim?s Corner reports: crappies fair on ruby-red minnows in 10 to 15 feet of water in the brush in Cemetery Cove and near the old Military Marina; white bass, wipers good on Shad Slabs in 10 to 15 feet of water in Madison Creek.
