Hey I wanted to know what was every ones opinion on swivles. I use them to connect my lures so I can switch them quickly. but I'v heard that you get more bites tieing direct. What do you guys think?
I only use swivels for spinners or spoons that will twist the line. Otherwise i tie directly with a palomar knot right to the eye.
No snap swivels for me. ( I 've had them bend open)
The less hardware the better is my philosophy.
I use swivels only when Bluefish are around with steel leaders. And use ballbearin swivels with Tube and worms.Because they twist so much. If there are only Bass around ,you don't need them. Once in a while If a big Bass turns around, she might cut your line with her dorsal fin. The other thing is the swivel gets hung up on the first hook of some plugs.
