fished 3 hours before until 2 hours after high tide @ bard rock.-zero. even the cats wouldn't eat my herring.

unusual occurrence today at bard rock- a coast guard tugboat came roaring by at peak high tide and sent out 4 foot rollers that dislodged every stick of driftwood in the cove on the north side of the "rock" (unbelievable amount)- and when the tide turned, it ALL belched out of that cove and created a veritable log jam of driftwood -50 feet wide- directly in front of my spot. shut down by driftwood? that was a first. what a gorgeous day, though.

thought I heard music at one point, but i didnt see ANYbody around. it turned out some dude had a huge giant mega stereo in his dinghy way across the river a mile away and was rocking out--if that was somebody here on this forum,.. nice system!!

Fished Greene County from 9am to 3:30. Took a bit but I filled my livewell. Nothing all day running live and chunk. Not even the cats or eels were hungry.

Nothing on fresh chunk today above and below the port of Albany, except one cat. Very few marks on the ff.

We fished the stockport area yesterday as well as albany area. Herring were around just had to work for them. Got one striper or live. The only herring that stayed alive after a bait tank problem. Nothing seemed to touch the chunk. Got a couple more live ones and had run and drops on both of them. I still dont seem to have any luck on chunk bait. The livelier the better is how i feel about herring and will not chunk the rest of the season.

Step2jim, don't do that to yourself. Today might have been slow on chunk, tomorrow might be slow on live. In order to give yourself the best chance you gotta have both kinds of bait out. yesterday we put 6 in the boat and only one was on live bait. Some days one type of bait is the ticket, the next day it could change!

Chunk if that's all you have, which is what I did in Coeymans yesterday evening.

Keep a log book for yourself. Log every fish you catch and note the temperature, tide, chunk or live and depth along with the size and time of day. You'll start to see patterns. Keep on catching!

Caught this one near Albany from shore on fresh herring chunk (head). Lost one around high tide on a live herring.

Fished near Troy this morning from shore for a few hours before heading in to work. No luck, but was nice to get out. Also cleaned up a full garbage bag worth of trash...just a reminder to everyone to do their part and clean it up when you see it!
